The National Blind Idol Competition
The 2018 Eastern Regional Semi-finals, will be sponsored again by Insightful Visionaries and held at the historic Carolina Theater in Durham, NC, 6pm – 8pm. The Blind Idol competition began modestly in 2015 when two employees of Winston-Salem’s Industries for the Blind – Anastasia Powell and Chris Flynt – came up with the idea for a competition for other blind individuals who possess musical talent. Insightful Visionaries successfully hosted the 3rd Annual Blind Idol Singing Competition, which attracted national attention. Contestants from all over the country were chosen to compete at Raleigh’s Renaissance North Hills Hotel Semi-Finals on June 3, 2017.
InVision 2017 Outta Sight Cruise (land cruise)
A celebration saluting Veterans with an Outta Sight Cruise (to nowhere) starts with a bon voyage party on the deck with a charity casino,
and refreshments, then Showtime with live entertainment in the Gospel Lounge. Laughs in theComedy Loft for our very own local Comedian performances. Evening main event was a Veterans Salute in the Captains Quarters and show in the Evianne Ballroom by a Marilyn Monroe tribute performance accompanied by dancers.
Visionary Honors Dinner
Insightful Visionaries and PGC (Pleasant Grove Church) hosted the Visionary Honors Dinner at the Raleigh Renaissance Saturday, June 3, 2017, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., honoring: Diane B. Whitaker, OD Speaker: Ed Summers, SAS. Ms. Whitaker is the Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Low Vision Rehabilitation at Duke Eye Center and Mr. Summers is the Senior Manager of Accessibility at SAS. Mr. Summers will be speaking on his remarkable new software for the blind and visually impaired. Our presenter was Ms. Cynthia Speight of Division of Services for the Blind honoring honoring Ms. Whitaker and Mr. Summers. Our Special guest was Matthew Whitaker, a 16-year-old blind musical prodigy recently seen on the Ellen Show.

Christmas Without Lights
Insightful Visionaries presented “Christmas Without Lights”, a Christmas experienced through the eyes of the blind and visually impaired. The talented cast mesmerized the audience with their videos and their live show that follows. There was singing, dancing and lots of holiday cheer. This was a blind awareness charity event meant to open eyes and hearts to an underserved community.
